The mass exodus transpiring at Adelaide United appears set to continue with striker Bruce Djite on the verge of joining South Korean side Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

The 29-year-old is expected to complete the move to the relegation-threatened outfit in the next 48 hours, pending a successful medical.

It is understood Djite exercised an exit clause in his contract on Monday in order to travel to Korea and sign with Suwon as reported by The Advertiser’s Val Migliaccio.

Adelaide CEO Grant Mayer later took to Twitter to confirm the news.

The Korean club currently lie precariously above the drop zone in 10th place in the K League Classic, after finishing the previous year as runners-up.

Djite re-joined Adelaide in 2011 in his second stint in the city of churches and became the club’s all-time top scorer, following a productive second half of the 2015-16 season.

After enduring a barren goalless streak of more than 20 matches across two A-League campaigns, the fan favourite netted 11 goals in 14 games, playing a pivotal role in securing an historic A-League double for the Reds.

His imminent departure follows the recent exits of Stefan Mauk (Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie), Craig Goodwin (Sparta Rotterdam), Bruce Kamau (Melbourne City) and Pablo Sanchez (unattached).

Djite accumulated over 130 appearances with United, scoring over 30 goals in the process.
