Deportivo La Coruña striker Lucas Perez is on his way to The Emirates.

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign the Spaniard after meeting his £17.1m buy-out clause, and according to Sky sources, they will now discuss personal terms before the move is finalised.

Perez had been withdrawn from the Galician outfit’s squad for the trip to face Real Betis in La Liga on Friday night, in anticipation of the signing.

The club said in a statement: “The striker Lucas Perez will not fly to Seville, with permission of the club.”

Perez, who plied his trade in Ukraine and Greece before moving back to his native Spain in 2014, had a breakout season in La Liga last season, scoring 17 goals and laying off 10 more for the Branquiazuis.

A move to North London would surely be too much to turn down for the 27-year-old, who has also attracted the attention of Premier League rivals Everton.

Perez may not be the big name signing the Arsenal faithful were expecting, nor would he have been first-choice, but he is a player at the top of his form right now who will have plenty to offer as an alternative to the inconsistent Olivier Giroud.
