Andros Townsend is in fine form for Newcastle during 2016 and could be the key man to steer the Geordie side away from relegation in the final few weeks of the Premier League season.

To illustrate just how good the 24-year-old has been of late, the gang at oulala.com have taken a look at his stats since the turn of the year against England trio Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling.

With Townsend comfortably coming out on top, does he deserve to be a late inclusion into Roy Hodgson’s England squad later this month?

The Newcastle winger has recorded four vital goals this campaign, outperforming Walcott on two, while Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sterling have only netted once.

Townsend has two assists to his name while the other trio all have zero, also recorded more key passes on average with 1.7 per 90 minutes. His defensive work cannot be overlooked either, providing 1.9 tackles and 0.8 interceptions each outing.

At such a crucial juncture for the Toon, Townsend is outperforming some of England’s big names and proving that he has the necessary grit to fight through a relegation battle.
