Chris Harold and Diego Castro scored a brace each as Perth Glory demolished a sorry Newcastle Jets 6-1 at Hunter Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Jets played the entire second half with 10 men after skipper Nigel Boogaard carelessly collected a second yellow card on the stroke of half time.

That moment killed any hope the Jets had of finding a route back into the match as Daniel Mullen put the ball into his own net after half time.

A flurry of goals from Harold, Alex Grant and a clever finish from Castro provided the icing on the cake for the Glory, while it compounded Jets’ woes on a day to forget.

Newcastle Jets

Mark Birighitti – 4: Put in a less than impressive display this week that was not at the level of his previous performances this season. Stood little chance with the goals but he would expect to do better.

Lachlan Jackson – 4: Was given a torrid time by Diego Castro, particularly on the second Glory goal for the Spaniard. He will learn from this as he adapts to his new role at left-back.

Nigel Boogaard – 2: A poor display from the skipper and he was deservedly given his marching orders for persistent fouls.

Daniel Mullen – 3: Was caught out on a few occasions as the Glory turned the tide of the match in the latter stages of the first half. Battled on manfully after the send off but it was an uphill battle.

Jason Hoffman – 5: Offered very little going forward, however, defensively was one of the few Jets who had a decent game.

Mateo Poljak – 5: Appeared hampered after an earlier challenge in the first half and lacked his usual zest from there.

Cameron Watson – 6: Was one of the better performers for the Jets. Played with real heart and character but needs to be more decisive in the final third. Was substituted due to the red card and the reshuffle, not for his general performance.

David Carney – 6: One of the better performers from the home side. Added an assist to his ever increasing tally and would be a real loss for the Jets if the rumoured move to Sydney FC eventuates.

Ryan Kitto – 7: Was the best performer for the Jets. He caused real problems down his flank and is starting to look every part an A-League player, especially in a badly beaten side.

Enver Alivodic – 6: Linked cleverly in the final third on a few occasions. Has to be more confident in front of goal as he had a few chances to shoot, but declined.

Milos Trifunovic – 5: Scored a fantastic header from a Carney corner but also missed a sitter earlier in the first half. Must lift if the Jets are to make anything of their season.

Leonardo – 6: Looked lively when introduced midway through the second half, but admittedly the game was well and truly over.

Nicholas Cowburn – 5: Came on at the start of the second half. Was in a midfield that was completely overrun due to the numerical disadvantage and simply couldn’t assert himself on the contest.

Braedyn Crowley – N/A: Was not on the pitch long enough to influence the game.

Perth Glory

Ante Covic – 6: Was safe and solid on most efforts on the Glory goal. He stood no chance with the Trifunovic goal and would feel let down by those in front of him for the goal.

Marc Warren – 5: Both Ryan Kitto and David Carney combined beautifully down his side of the pitch. Most of the Jets better chances came down his side. Needs to lift.

Alexander Grant – 6: Solid and dependable as the match wore on, but he was found out earlier on at times in this match. It didn’t matter in the end though and also got himself a rare goal.

Aryn Williams – 7: Another solid outing for the Glory man. Was biting in the tackle and distribution was sound. If he keeps playing like this then Michael Thwaite won’t really be missed.

Josh Risdon – 8: Another solid performance from the Glory captain for the day. Continues to show why he is one of the best right backs in the league.

Diogo Ferreira – 7: Worked his proverbial socks off for the team, allowing the creative types like Marinkovic and Castro to do their thing.

Gyorgy Sandor – 7: Not as noticeable as some of his team mates, but he put in a decent effort for his side.

Nebojsa Marinkovic – 7: His delivery from set-pieces was always quality and he made the cross that was turned in by Mullen for the own goal.

Mitchell Oxborrow – 7: A solid effort from the former Jets man who really seems to have taken to life back in his home town.

Chris Harold – 9: One of the better players for the Glory, giving Lachlan Jackson all sorts of problems. He capped off a fine display with the opening goal for the Glory.

Diego Castro – 9: Along with Harold, was up there for the man of the match. His passing and distribution stretched the Jets on a number of occasions and he buried both his goals.

Andy Keogh – 5: A workmanlike effort from the Irishman. Will be better for the run and the added fitness going into the latter stages of the season.

Richard Garcia – N/A: Was not on the pitch long enough to influence the game.

Jamal Reiners – N/A: Was not on the pitch long enough to influence the game.
