In what was one of the most dominant performances this season, Brisbane Roar have humiliated Melbourne Victory, winning 5-0 in a one-sided match at Suncorp Stadium.

After missing out on Socceroos selection, Jamie Maclaren scored a well taken hat-trick, added to by a fine finish from Corona and a fortuitous goal from Corey Brown.

Brisbane Roar

Jamie Young – 6.5: Interestingly replaced Theo in the starting line-up. Did nto have much to do but was comfortable when called upon.

Corey Brown – 7.5: Came into the side for Stefanutto and played admirably. Marked Ingham out of the game and chimed in with a fortuitous long range goal.

Daniel Bowles – 6.5: Apart from his unnecessary yellow card, the young defender looked much more solid following the past couple of weeks worth of defensive blunders.

Jade North – 7: True leader of the team across the park. Kept Berisha so quiet that the Albanian was substituted after 70 minutes.

Jack Hingert – 8.5: One of the best games of this man’s career. Was potent in attack and solid in defence. Kept Fahid Ben Khalfallah in check.

Corona – 8: Is the key for Brisbane as he anchors the midfield. It is because of his ability at the base of midfield that Petratos is able to utilise the freedom going forward.

Dimitri Petratos – 9: Was the heartbeat of Brisbane’s attack. Looked to play the number 10 role behind the forward line and played it to perfection. Victory could not contain his speed or inch perfect passes.

Matt McKay – 7: Did not do anything special but was everywhere he needed to be. The ever

Thomas Broich – 8: Was very unlucky not to score, with a myriad of good chances. Is back to his dangerous best.

Jamie Maclaren – 8.5: What else can you say about this man? Another three goals from Maclaren reaffirms the fact that he is currently one of the best strikers in the league. Was unlucky not to be in the Socceroos squad but the Roar will not mind.

Brandon Borrello – 8.5: One of the youngsters best games this season. Outplayed Galloway to the extent that the left back was substituted after 70 minutes.

Substitutes

Henrique – 6: Came on for Broich and added energy to a tiring Brisbane team. Is much better when utilised as a substitute.

Steven Lustica – N/A: Replaced Corona on 78 minutes.

Javi Hervas – N/A: Brought on for McKay with two minutes remaining.

Melbourne Victory

Daniel Vukovic – 6: One to forget in his 250th game in the A-League. Was only really at fault for Maclaren’s first, otherwise he kept the game from looking even worse for the Victory.

Scott Galloway – 4: Was isolated on many occasions against the rampaging duo of Borrello and Hingert, really needed assistance from the midfield.

Matthieu Delpierre – 5: Was found wanting against the speed of Brisbane’s attack.

Thomas Deng – 5: Struggled ot contain the Brisbane frontline. Did not give away too many chances, but still was not his strongest game.

Jason Geria – 6: Could not contain Broich, was very glad to see him depart the game.

Oliver Bozanic – 6: Struggled to contain the agile Brisbane midfield, was the key third throughout the game and made it difficult for Melbourne to gain a foothold.

Guilherme Finkler – 7: Rarely tracked back to help defend with any effect. There were glimpses of his ability but it was well shut out by Brisbane.

Rashid Mahazi – 5.5: Was preferred in midfield over Leigh Broxham in a move that backfired throughout the first half. Could not hold onto McKay or Petratos in what was a game to forget.

Fahid Ben Khalfallah – 6: Was lazy in patches as he did not track back all that often. Is class in the front third but needs to help more across the pitch.

Besart Berisha – 5: One of the Albanian’s quietest games in a long time. Will not liked to have been subbed in front of his former club’s fans.

Jai Ingham – 5: Non existent for much of the first half, was outplayed by Brown.

Substitutes

Daniel Georgievski – 4: Was booked and continued to concede goals. Did not add anything to the Melbourne team.

Archie Thompson – 5: Could not break through the Brisbane defence, and could not find the x-factor needed for the Victory.

Connor Pain – 5: Could not get past the wing-backs.
