Aston Villa summer signing Mile Jedinak has produced a tidy performance in a 1-1 draw against Brentford at Villa Park.
The Socceroos skipper started in central midfield for Villa, making just his second appearance for the club.
Playing in a deep role and tasked with the duty of protecting the back four, the veteran produced an industrious display and was unfortunate not to guide Villa to a precious win.
The 32-year-old fizzed a raking ball out wide to pacy winger Jonathan Kodjia who jinked his way into the box and opened the scoring with a rasping left-footed drive on 19 minutes.
Villa were able to cling onto their slender advantage in the second half, only to concede on 88 minutes after John Egan converted from close range and denied the home side their second win of the season.
Here are some of the best reactions from the fans following Jedinak’s fine display:
Love Jedinak in the midfield. Plays balls that no midfielder has at Villa since Barry. #avfc

Jedinak is the player we’ve been missing in midfield for yonks. Always one step ahead of everyone else. #AVFC

Jedinak is a class above the rest but he can’t do two jobs. #avfc

Surely I can’t be the only one to believe, Jedinak will, more or less by himself, carry Villa at least to the play offs. #cpfc #avfc
