Newcastle in shambles
Before the season started, Newcastle fans must have been quietly optimistic. After narrowly avoiding the drop last season, the club’s owner Mike Ashley uncharacteristically splashed the cash and some decent signings were brought in. And yet the Magpies find themselves positioned just above their rivals Sunderland in 19th place. They too have failed to win a game and Steven McClaren is under severe pressure already. Against Watford they were not broken down by amazing football but simply succumbed to their own mistakes allowing Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo to score a cheap brace. It is a disappointment considering how famous and prestigious this club is. Chelsea and Manchester City await them next.
