Éder found a late winner to extend the Italians’ lead in Group E.

A dour match ensued between Italy and Sweden at the Stadium Municipal on Friday, with Inter Milan striker Éder netting an 88th minute winner as the match ended 1-0.

Very few chances were created throughout the 90 minutes, with Azzurri midfielder Marco Parolo hitting the crossbar late on with a header.

A 0-0 stalemate seemed inevitable, until Éder found space at the edge of the box and curled his effort past the helpless Swedish goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson.

The Czech Republic fought back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw against Croatia in a thrilling match in Saint Etienne.

Croatia started well and took the lead when Ivan Perisic netted on 27 minutes.

The Czech’s tried to become more expansive in the second half, but were hit with a sucker punch after a defensive mistake gave Ivan Rakitic the chance to double Croatia’s lead and he did so with aplomb.

With 15 minutes remaining, the Czech Republic were given a lifeline after substitute Milan Skoda headed home from a Tomas Rosicky cross.

Things would only get worse for Croatia. Crowd trouble in injury time disrupted their momentum, and then a handball from Domagoj Vida gifted Tomas Necid the chance to equalise from the spot and he made no mistake.

Spain staked their claim as tournament favourites with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Turkey in Nice.

A double from Alvaro Morata and a goal from Nolito separated the sides on a day when Spanish movement and passing was on display for the world to see.

The opener was almost identical to the goal that won Spain their first group match against the Czech Republic, only delivered by two different players. Nolito, cutting inside from the left wing, floated a ball into the box for Morata to finish with a cushioned header.

Two minutes later and it was two for La Furia Roja. This time it was Nolito on the end of a lofted ball into the box, not properly cleared by Mehmet Topal, sliding the ball past Volkan Babacan.

Three minutes into the second half and Spain had three. An over lapping run from Jordi Alba was found by Andres Iniesta. With the goal at his mercy the full back squared the ball to his centre forward and Morata made no mistake as Spain became the first team at Euro 2016 to score three.
