Perišic beginning to find his feet in Serie A

The Croatian endured a difficult start to life in Italy’s top division as he was immediately thrust into Inter’s first XI following his move from VfL Wolfsburg. Failing to impose himself in matches in a similar manner to what he was able to at the Volkswagen Arena, the former Dortmund man was anonymous all throughout the first few matches of his Inter career.

Perišic’s form under Mancini as of late, however, has been encouraging to say the least, having netted twice in his last three outings in Serie A. As well as this, the Hajduk Split youth product has linked up in a more efficient manner with his teammates and is having more of an impact on games, as seen in his performance against Palermo.

Now seemingly acclimatised to the manner in which defences operate in Serie A, Perišic is beginning to look the part in an unfamiliar free role behind the strikers Mancini has tasked him with. Having said this, the manager would most likely get more out of the Croatian if he was to put him in a more comfortable wide position.
