Next came the sale of central defender Tyler Blackett to another Championship side in Reading. Blackett enjoyed a number of first team opportunities during Louis van Gaal’s first season at the club but then was shipped off to Celtic last season on loan where he failed to have a major impact.

Chelsea’s pursuit of a new central defender seems to be getting worse by the day. Reports from Sky Sports claim the Blues have turned their attention to AC Milan defender Alessio Romagnoli and have seen a £30 million bid for the 21-year-old rejected.

New reports from the Daily Mail suggest Everton may not look to make a move for Joe Hart this summer due to the financial requirements involved in a potential deal. The report claims that the Toffees would need to pay a combined figure of £7 million to cover the England international’s loan fee and playing wages.

Arsenal will have a battle on their hands if they are to sign Jonny Evans this summer as manager Arsene Wenger continues his search for a central-defender. The Daily Telegraph is speculating that West Brom will accept nothing less than £25 million to allow the 28-year-old to leave for their Premier League rivals.

A three-way tug-of-war could be set to take place to secure Barcelona youngster Munir El Haddidi’s services, according to Spanish publication Sport. It is being rumoured Everton, Stoke and Tottenham could all make a move for the 20-year-old before the end of the transfer window.

Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat could be set for a quick return to the Premier League this summer according to reports from the Daily Mail. Watford and West Ham have reportedly registered their interest in the 27-year-old full-back.
