A rampant Melbourne City continue to impress after notching another four goals past a lackluster Newcastle side at Hunter Stadium.

Aaron Mooy yet again got himself on the scoresheet as he opened proceedings in the 43rd minute. Ivan Franjic was allowed to turn in the box before Mooy was played in behind and shot between the legs of Mark Birighitti. The best and arguably only real chance in the first half fell to the feet of Enver Alivodic after he was slipped in by a sublime backheel from Milos Trifunovic, but Thomas Sorenson came out and smothered the shot very well.

The second-half went much the same as the first with City controlling proceedings. Within the space of six minutes Melbourne put the game out of site as Bruno Fornaroli scored two and Mooy added another to his list to put the team 4-0 up after only 61 minutes. The match very much petered out after that as City cruised through till the final whistle.

Unstoppable City

Melbourne City simply can not stop scoring at the moment. Fornaroli leads the golden boot tally with Mooy in equal second which just shows the attacking prowess that the club has at their disposal this season. It was those two that made the difference tonight as they opened the Newcastle defense up with ease on a number of occasions.

Franjic was also excellent and made a number of overlapping runs to help create two of the City goals. With a number of other key players injured it just goes to show the talent that the club have if they can keep their star players fit.

It truly was a disheartening day for the Jets
