Hume City goalkeeper Chris Oldfield has insisted that far more is at stake for their FFA Cup round of 16 opponents Melbourne Victory on Wednesday night.

In an exclusive chat with the Daily Football Show, the 24-year-old revealed that his mind is set on beating the three-time A-League champions as well as putting in a strong display on the national stage.

While Oldfield concedes the match is a huge challenge, he says the pressure firmly rests on the shoulders of the A-League club.

“There’s pressure on them (Melbourne Victory) to beat us, not the other way around,” he said.

“If we beat them it’s a shock, but they have to beat us.”

The shot stopper revealed that members of the Hume City squad still keep in touch with former star Jai Ingham, who is now apart of Kevin Muscat’s squad.

“We still talk to him (Jai Ingham),” Oldfield said.

“He’s our friend off the field but when it comes to playing he’s an enemy.”

“If we have to beat him being horrible, we’re going to beat him being horrible!” Oldfield joked.

The goalkeeper also reserved praise for the FFA Cup by giving NPL talent a shot at facing elite footballing talent.

“It’s always good to play against the better players, because it showcases your own ability,” he said.

“I know for a fact it’s going to be a tough game tomorrow, they’re going to have plenty of shots against me, I’m going to be busy.”

Hume City play host to Melbourne Victory on Wednesday night at ABD Stadium, Broadmeadows. Kick-off is at 7:30pm.
