Bournemouth fight back in frantic final 10 minutes

Everton’s two-goal lead knocked the stuffing out of the Cherries in the latter stages of the opening stanza, but one can only assume manager Eddie Howe struck a chord with his charges at the interval.

Bournemouth emerged from the dressing room looking refreshed and recharged and had the better of the play for much of the second half. They capitalised, getting back on level terms through Smith and Stanislas.

They could even have taken the lead. Daniels was presented with an opportunity with a header, though in his defence, there was little he could have done in the way of anticipation in this instance; the ball came to him quickly.

They did not, however, and Barkley made the most of what many thought would be the final attacking foray of the evening to give Everton a 3-2 advantage.

But Bournemouth pressed on, showing the underdog spirit that their fans and neutrals alike love to see from the battling clubs. Stanislas powered a header past Howard to send the home fans into a frenzy and secure a crucial point.
