Zenit St Petersburg manager Mircea Lucescu has revealed Juventus are interested in bringing Alex Witsel to Italy.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Witsel is set to leave the Belgium national team camp to undergo a medical at Juventus. It has been reported that a deal worth €18 million plus €3 million in performance related bonuses and a medical will all be completed today.

It was previously reported the 27 year old was keen to stay at Zenit for this season despite interest from top clubs.

According to Dolce Sport, Everton made strong claim for Witsel, “we had a serious offer from Everton for Witsel, but the player rejected it,” Lucescu said.

The Italian giants’ biggest priority is to find a replacement for the recently departed Paul Pogba, who returned to Manchester United for a record fee.

Pogba’s departure leaves a huge void to fill, but Juventus has the funds to replace him and strongly believe Witsel is their man.

Witsel has made 110 appearances for Zenit, and has netted 15 goals for the Russian outfit. He has great defensive and attacking capabilities.

He impressed at the Euros this year, and has 71 international caps to his name.

If Juventus pull of the signing of Witsel, they will likely be a huge Champions League favourite.
