Wellington Phoenix have come from behind against the Central Coast Mariners to win 3-2 at Westpac stadium.

The Mariners opened the scoring through Nick Fitzgerald, before Eddy Bosnar added a second from a set piece.

Wellington then fought back to score three goals in the second half, through Roly Bonevacia and Kenny Cunningham – the latter with a brace which included the 95th minute winner.

Wellington Phoenix

Glen Moss: 5.5 – besides the two goals, wasn’t tested much.

Andrew Durante: 5 – quiet match for the captain, decent performance in the centre of defence.

Ben Sigmund: 5 – a bit of a shaky return to the starting XI, the second half saw the usual hard defensive display from the central defender.

Michael Boxall: 6 – did well at right back, pushed forward on plenty of occasions and provided width.

Louis Fenton: 7.5 – was quiet in his usual left back position, a tactical change in the 60th minute saw him pushed into midfield and become influential in the proceedings.

Albert Riera: 6 – a typical performance from the Spaniard, good defensive cover, worked the midfield well.

Alex Rodriguez: 5 – quiet and ineffectual for most of the hour he played, subbed off in the 60th minute.

Roly Bonevacia: 7 – very positive performance, always looked to push forward and find space. Scored Wellington’s first which kick-started the comeback.

Michael McGlinchey: 5 – not present for most of the match, didn’t have as big an impact as some of his teammates.

Roy Krishna: 6 – showed plenty of pace as usual, got into a few good scoring positions but wasn’t able to finish. Was replaced on the hour mark.

Nathan Burns: 6 – tried to both score and set up goals to no avail in the first half, provided the assist for Bonevacia’s goal.

Substitutes

Jason Hicks: n/a – replaced McGlinchey in the 84th minute.

Kenny Cunningham: 8 – came on in the 60th minute and scored both the equaliser and the winner. A very good performance from the substitute.

Manny Muscat: 7 – also came on in the 60th minute, solid performance in the full back position.

 

Central Coast Mariners

Liam Reddy: 6 – made a few routine saves in the first half, was called on a lot more in the second.

Eddy Bosnar: 6 – scored the Mariners’ second, decent in defence.

Josh Rose: 6 – great in the first half, shutting down Wellington’s attacks. Ventured forward as well.

Zac Anderson: 5 – good match from the central defender.

Storm Roux: 5 – not a big presence in the match.

John Hutchinson: 6 – solid shift from the captain.

Nick Montgomery: 6.5 – great performance in midfield, solid defensively and got involved up forward as well.

Anthony Caceres: 7 – central to the Mariners attacks, always looked forward and was influential.

Isaka Cernak: 6.5 – really decent in midfield, got into space and played a few defence splitting balls.

Nick Fitzgerald: 7 – opened the scoring, had a few chances to add to his tally. Good shift from the forward.

Anthony Kalik: 7 – youngster was giving the Wellington defenders trouble whenever the Mariners attacked, positive and lively.

Substitutes

Matt Simon: 5 – came on in the 72nd minute, saw little of the ball due to Wellington’s dominance down the other end of the pitch.

Glen Trifiro: n/a – came on in the 86th minute for Caceres.

Liam Rose: n/a – replaced Hutchinson in the 82nd minute.
