Sydney FC continued their dull performance levels with a 0-0 draw agains the usually lively Brisbane Roar on Friday night.
The game started-off slow and failed to pick up any real momentum as neither side looked to take any attacking risks.
The draw sees the Sky Blues remain on-top of the A-League ladder, temporarily, with the Jets now able to go top when they play the Wanderers tomorrow.
Sydney FC
Vedran Janjetovic – 6: Had precious little to do aside from mopping up loose play.
Sebastian Ryall – 5.5: Clattered into Broich early which meant he was walking the tightrope for 70 odd minutes. Was replaced in the 67th minute.
Matthew Jurman – 6.5: He and Faty dealt with the most lethal attacking force in the league with relative ease. Always weary of Maclaren’s pace.
Jacques Faty – 6.5: Building a nice partnership with Jurman. Distribution was decent as well.
Rhyan Grant – 6: Kept the on-form Borello quiet but never looked to penetrate and was generally poor with his final delivery. Does not look entirely comfortable playing on the left.
Mickael Tavares – 6: Kept the ball well in midfield but couldn’t replicate Dimitrijevic’s creativity.
Brandon O’Neill – 6: Was key in breaking up Brisbane’s possession with some expertly-timed challenges and showed his ball playing capabilities when Sydney had the ball. Solid stuff.
Milos Ninkovic – 5: Showed moments of delectable skill but all-in-all failed to have a lasting impact on the match. Replaced by Hoole in the 54th minute.
Filip Holosko – 5: Playing from the right, Holosko failed to penetrate or deliver anything of real substance. Looks a square peg in a round hole out on the right.
Alex Brosque – 6.5: Arguably Sydney’s best on the evening. He showed more desire than many of his teammates but couldn’t break the deadlock.
Shane Smeltz – 5: Not exactly the Kiwi international’s fault, but he became more and more isolated as the game grew on. Hardly looked liked scoring.
Substitutes
Andrew Hoole – 5: Struggled to make an impact but provided some threat from set pieces.
Matt Simon – 5: More of a general nuisance than a direct goal threat.
Alex Gersbach – N/A: Had little opportunity.
