Sydney FC

Vedran Janjetovic – 7: Was beaten by Hoffman’s header but everything else was clean and assured.

Sebastian Ryall – 7: One of Ryall’s better games, aside from his yellow card for simulation. He was energetic and consistent throughout. His speed caused Carney some real issues.

Jaques Faty – 8: Vastly improved from last week. He never looked like giving any real opportunities to the home side and his playing out was superb.

Matthew Jurman – 7:  Solid along with his partner in central defence. Set piece efforts aside, the Jets failed to create much up the middle.

Rhyan Grant – 7: Overlapped well and had a real chance prior to being substituted for Alex Gersbach in the 57th minute. The versatile player has started the season well.

Milos Dimitrijevic – 6:  Solid if unspectacular. Kept Sydney ticking but he never looked like creating the special moment that would make the difference. He was substituted for Tavares in the 70th minute.

Milos Ninkovic – 7: His passing was superb throughout but it was all played in front of the Jets. His passing needed to be more penetrative.

Brandon O’Neill – 8:  Yet another solid effort from the young man. Seemed a bolter at the start of the season but is looking more at home by the week.

Chris Naumoff – 6:  Subbed off at the same time as Grant. Looked lively and had a half chance before all his recent flying with the Young Socceroos caught up with him.

Shane Smeltz – 5: Targeted Kantarovski throughout but the defender had the better of the contest. He looked a bit off the pace at times for such a gun striker. He missed a chance at the end to win it.

Alex Brosque – 7.5:  He tried his best throughout but never really impacted the contest until the dying moments. It was a beautifully taken header to give Sydney the spoils.

Substitutions

George Blackwood – 6: Had a couple of half chances but was another striker denied in a contest won by the defenders.

Alex Gersbach – 6:  Did no more or less than the man he came on for in Rhyan Grant. There will be more opportunities for the youngster in the future.

Mickael Tavares – N/A: Came on late and shored things up for Sydney as they went searching the winner.
