Lorenzo Tonelli

Lorenzo Tonelli stamped his authority on the match against Lazio in a big way right from the outset with a goal in the fifth minute. After this he set out to create a successful four-man wall with the other Empoli defenders and subsequently, the home side took all three points.

A huge effort between Tonelli and Andrea Costa maxed out the clearance and interception statistics for the match, in a performance which resembled a famous Italian defence.

The 25-year-old will also be a key part of the Empoli cog if they are to remain in the top-flight.

Giuseppe Vives

Giuseppe Vives has been a vital part of the Granta midfield, however, consistent performances may not be enough for Torino if they are to get something out of the season.

The Italian veteran made sure his side got a much needed win at the weekend and in busy fashion, not only contributing with defensive efforts but also venturing forward to setup opportunities. The 35-year-old scored a last minute goal to secure victory.

He will rely on teammates such as Daniele Baselli and Bruno Peres to help guide Torino forward into the New Year.
