Victory were not convincing

All football fans in Australia know how clinical and lethal the Victory can be when they are at their best. Tonight’s match did not showcase just how good the Melbourne side can be, despite what the final score may suggest.

While Gui Finkler and Fahid Ben Khalfallah were on the bench, the likes of Connor Pain, Besart Berisha, Kosta Barbarouses and Jesse Makarounas – the latter of whom has been very impressive in his prior FFA Cup appearances – were unable to break down the Hume City defence particularly in the first half.

There was no real spark in the Victory’s attacks up until the latter stages of the match, when Hume City, whose league season started in March, began to fatigue and cramp up, loosening up considerably.

Victory will be happy to be in the final, with a chance at claiming a treble of trophies this year, but they will not be impressed with large parts of their performance.
