Bilic’s next step is to instill a ruthlessness in this team
This season, a raucous success though it still is, is as much defined by a complacent inability to beat inferior teams, as it is by soaring, historic away victories over superior opposition. West Ham have serious ambitions to ascend to the elite tier in the next few seasons, and one of the commonalities among the persistent contenders is a callous ruthlessness when it comes to bullying the minnows of the league.
Slaven Bilic quite clearly has no trouble revving his side up to play above themselves, to ram their vibrant, aggressive style right down the throats of their smug superiors, but he must be concerned, as we all are, that his team seem to crumble so easily when the expectation to win is on them.
