Coutinho is back

The former Inter Milan attacker has had a below-par start to the new Premier League season. However, Coutinho took his game to another level in the second-half at Stamford Bridge with a brace and a wealth of attacking play, despite not having the typically polished performance Liverpool fans have become accustomed to over the years.

The Brazilian’s goals were of the highest quality. His first was vital to the Reds’ victory as it was seconds before the interval. The attacking midfielder received a pass from countryman Roberto Firmino before turning Ramires and curling a left-footed shot past an outstretched Asmir Begovic. The second strike was helped by a slight deflection off John Terry, however, it looked as though the 23-year-old’s effort was goal-bound anyway.

This victory is a huge momentum boost for Liverpool and their German tactician, but perhaps the biggest confidence surge will go to Coutinho who has struggled to rekindle his form from last season since grabbing the winner against Stoke City on the opening day.
