Not the best of days for Manuel Neuer

It may be a little harsh to critisie one of the world’s best goalkeepers, but it needs to be done. Yes Schalke scored through a counter-attack, but it was Mannuel Neuer who effectively got them back in the game (although the same could be said about Bayern’s defence). It was a shot where normally Neuer  would have made a routine stop, but he would not be happy that a clean sheet was taken away and he would have known that more could have been done. Meyer’s shot went into the bottom right-hand corner, albeit with no real pace. Where the fault lies, however, is when Neuer went to ground way too easily and moved too early.

Bayern know when to switch on the accelerator

The first-half was a tight contest, however, it was a completely different story after the break. The second-half belonged to Bayern and its pretty easy to see why. The visitors controlled both the game and possession, scoring two goals in the latter stage. The first came in the 69th minute through Javi Martenez to put the Bavarians ahead, in the lead-up to the goal they controlled possession in front of the 18-yard box, while forcing 10 Schalke players behind the ball.

It was that kind of 45 minutes for the men in blue. To finish-off preceding’s the legendary Muller sealed the result, after a lob from Joshua Kimmich. Bayern are a world class to team to play against, let alone try and beat, but there is one thing that is very clear – they just know when to hit the accelerator button to put teams to bed.
