Roberto Soldado back on form

Euro 2016 will take place after the European season completes. Extra motivation for players in Europe to make a name for themselves or remain in their respective national teams will be evident this season. One man who was forgotten in the Spanish national team is Roberto Soldado. The former Tottenham striker had a disappointing spell in England after a successful period with Valencia prior. With Diego Costa performing poorly for the national side, strikers such as Soldado would be driven to stake a claim for a spot.

In four appearances, Soldado has already scored two goals, five shy of his total tally in 52 appearances for Spurs. Soldado had another great game against Atléti, providing the assist for the crucial winner. His return to form comes at the perfect time for the Spaniard with Vicente del Bosque having to decide whether to stick with Costa, who does not look suited to the coach’s philosophy, or select another option. If Soldado keeps this up, his chances of a return to the national scene appear high.
