A-League impact

One of the most frustrating parts of the A-League schedule is the fact that it still does not cater for international breaks, leaving teams shorthanded at crucial times. In this case, several teams will be without big-name players for the opening round which kicks off a few hours before the Socceroos game. Brisbane will be without club captain McKay as they travel to Western Sydney to kick off the season. Adelaide have the unenviable task of stopping the Melbourne Victory without their first choice goalkeeper. Finally, Aaron Mooy will be taken out of Melbourne City’s setup for their Saturday clash with Sydney FC. It is a good sign that the A-League is producing players capable of making the cut at international level but it is a big drawback that these players are now missing club games.
