Last night, Melbourne Victory knocked out current FFA Cup holders Adelaide United with a 3-1 win at AAMI Park.
Victory were dominant in the first half and took a 2-0 lead courtesy of a stunning free kick from Gui Finkler and a tidy Kosta Barbarouses finish at the back post.
Adelaide worked their way back into the match in the second stanza, with Marcelo Carrusca converting a 78th minute spot kick.
The reigning A-League champions secured their semi-finals birth with a third goal via a Besart Berisha penalty.
Archie Thompson’s late injury marred what was an otherwise important win for the Victory ahead of their A-League title defence.
Stand by me… @gomvfc v @adelaideunited in the @ffacup Quarter Final. Great atmosphere here at AAMI… https://t.co/ph9jd9YF9Z
