Still no Ryan or Jedinak

Mat Ryan continues to rehabilitate from his early-season knee injury with Valencia while the trip to Jordan was a bit too soon for Mile Jedinak as he recovers from his hamstring injury. Both players will be missed, particularly the midfield solidarity that Jedinak would have provided. Look for Milligan to be the main holding midfielder as the team will try to maintain its place at the top of the group. Adam Federici was a solid replacement for Ryan last time and would appear to be the first choice for this one-off game.

Another new face

Plucked out of Bradford City in England’s League One, you have every right to wonder: just who is James Meridith? A left-back by trade, the 27-year-old has moved around England since 2006 before settling in at York City in 2009, playing in 131 games before moving to Bradford in 2012, where he has recently clocked up 100 appearances. Past managers have praised his attacking mentality which may make him an option for later games but when the team will be setting out to defend against Jordan, this may just be an initiation into the Socceroos camp before giving him a debut.
