Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo appears set to stay with the Red Devils this season despite rumours linking him with a move away from the club.

Spanish side Valencia were interested in signing the player on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent move next summer.

Rojo has yet to feature in the Premier League this season, despite making a substitute appearance in his side’s Community Shield win against Leicester City earlier this month.

His agent Carlos Goncalves has quashed any rumours of a potential move away for the Argentina international, telling SportWitness he is set to stay at Old Trafford.

“Manchester United rejected several offers from England and from abroad to sell the player. Manchester United want him to stay,” he said.

The 26-year-old has been linked with a move away from Manchester after he was rumoured not be apart of Jose Mourinho’s plans for this season.

If the right offer does come in for the defender, he could possibly make way for a final Red Devils summer signing.

Further to the Rojo news, ESPN FC is reporting that Phil Jones is also set to remain at the club beyond the transfer deadline.

United are reportedly happy to keep the defender on their books as a sale could leave their defensive stocks looking quite slim.
