Can CSKA bounce back?
It’s tough traveling away in the first leg of the Champions League group stages, let alone traveling to a ground at which Wolfsburg were unbeaten for the entirety of their last Bundesliga campaign. CSKA were unable to get into the game from the get-go and were almost completely shut out offensively, managing only a few shots in the final moments of the match. Too often the Wolves got through the CSKA defensive lines, and not nearly enough pressure was applied by the Russian visitors. The only reason CSKA didn’t leave on the back of a 5-0 drubbing was that their opponent’s finishing was below par. In a tough group, with PSV and Manchester United to face, CSKA will be needing to put in a lot of work if they want to avoid exiting during the early stages of this competition.
