Barcelona

Marc-Andre ter Stegen – 8.5: Was busier than his compatriot Leno at the other end of the pitch, made the routine saves, as well as some less routine ones, and a couple of important interceptions. He made a world class save late on.

Adriano – 5: Was solid in patches throughout the 90 minutes, but was often beaten by Calhanoglu.

Marc Bartra – 5.5: Imposed himself on the match with some great defensive work, was caught out at times.

Thomas Vermaelen – 5: A shaky start from the Belgian, coughed up possession early on before coming close to making a second error. Was also caught out on too many occasions.

Jordi Alba – 6: He made things harder for Bellarabi, on one occasion he brilliantly picked out Messi.

Ivan Rakitic – 7.5: Produced the assist for Messi with an exceptionally well weighted pass. He was the visitors’ biggest source of creativity.

Wilfrid Kaptoum – 5: The young Cameroonian recovered possession at times but couldn’t impose himself in an influential sense.

Sergi Samper – 5.5: The 20-year-old failed to influence the match, but demonstrated good distribution.

Sandro Ramirez – 5: Didn’t see much of the ball, but did make an impressive run down the right wing to create a chance.

Lionel Messi – 8: The Argentine showcased his pure talent from considerably limited chances due to the inexperienced line-up utilised by Luis Enrique. Netted the opener and attempted two shots.
