Joe Hart: Torino move was “destiny”

Torino have confirmed one of the summer’s surprise signings, securing Joe Hart on a one-year loan from Manchester City on Wednesday.

A move away from the Etihad looked certain for some time, but the Turin-based club has finally won the race for the England international’s signature, staving off interest from the likes of Everton, Liverpool and Sevilla.

New City manager Pep Guardiola dropped Hart in favour of Willy Caballero, with the Englishman’s footwork viewed as inferior for the ‘sweeper keeper’ role.

Claudio Bravo too has arrived at City after moving from FC Barcelona, further limiting Hart’s first team opportunities.

“Suddenly, my career has undergone a change, I interpreted it as a sign of destiny,” Hart said.

“I am very happy to compete in a difficult league like Serie A.”

Hart joins Serbian Adem Ljajic as Torino’s star summer signings.

The 29-year-old gloveman looks set to make his debut for the Granata on 11 September against Atalanta following the international break.
