Manager John van’t Schip has addressed City’s lack of depth this off-season, bringing in a number of talented players to bolster the squad and push for success. Every successful side, however, needs their one superstar player to spark the side when necessary. Luckily, City have one of the best players in the A-League at their disposal.
Aaron Mooy last season proved not only to be City’s best player and leader, but proved he was one the best players in the A-League. Mooy swept City’s awards last season, winning the Golden Boot, the Fans’ Player of the Year and the Player of the Year. If his two free kick goals to get Melbourne across the line in their FFA Cup tie against Edgeworth Eagles FC are anything to go by, Mooy looks primed for another scintillating campaign.
