As previously mentioned, Melbourne City is the youngest club in the A-League, which some may think of as a lack of experience. The City playing list, however, is littered with experienced talent that knows what it takes to win. Aaron Hughes’ long European career will prove vital for City’s push for success, with the Northern Irishman proving a key player in Fulham’s run to the Europa League final in 2010. He also has experience guiding Queens Park Rangers to securing promotion back into the Premier League in season 2014. Through his long career, Hughes has developed an understanding of what it takes to win titles, and this will prove invaluable for a hungry side. Along with Hughes, fellow new signing Ivan Franjic has also learned what it takes to win titles.
The 27-year-old Melbourne native found himself playing a key role while at previous club Brisbane Roar, winning two Premierships and three Championships at the club. This experience will prove vital as it gets toward the back end of the season.
