Genoa dominant
Genoa, who were near the foot of the table before this match, should have been easy pickings for AC Milan. However, they held possession for great quantities of the game and showed an attacking flair that threw Milan off guard. Having the extra man in the second half after Romagnoli’s red card enabled them to hold off Milan and sees them rise to 14th, a point above last season’s champions Juventus. Dzemaili gave the hosts the lead in the first half from a free kick, which took a deflection off the wall, leaving hapless Lopez watching the ball zip past him and into the net.
