Celtic were held to a scoreless draw by Hearts at Parkhead on Saturday.

Celtic struggle against a stubborn defence

Not for the first time this season, Celtic struggled to break down a stubborn defence similar to what happened against Malmo FF in the Champions League qualifiers. Leigh Griffiths cannot always be the man who will rescue Celtic and so it proved against Hearts this weekend.

Hearts are not a one season wonder

Many questioned whether the Hearts team that cruised to the Championship title last season would struggle to show the same form on the bigger stage of the Premiership. Yet they answered many of those questions at Celtic Park. The whole team worked hard as a defensive unit and fought for a hard-earned point.

Ronny Deila should have invested in more attacking options

When Celtic were struggling and pushing for a goal, Nadir Ciftci was the only feasible option off the bench. The manager must, at some point, realise he may have failed in investing in the attack. Griffiths is the only attacker who is firing on all cylinders at the moment and Celtic will not manage to catch Aberdeen with only one striker scoring goals.

Efe Ambrose can always be relied on to provide a moment of madness

The Nigerian international, who is not exactly known for sailing through games quietly, once again managed to get himself sent off late on in the game. Sam Nicholson was heading through on goal before Ambrose decided to bring him down in some sort of WWE-style takedown. Hearts could not score from the resulting free kick, however.

Eleventh time is a charm

Hearts had failed to take a single point from the last 10 league meetings with Celtic but finally, on the 11th attempt, they have managed to take a solitary point back to Gorgie.

Now Celtic head into a Europa League tie against Fenerbahce on Thursday hoping to improve on this performance and take all three points against the Turks.
