Juventus were able to pick up only their third win of the season against a 10-man Atalanta side that struggled to match the Bianconeri in a dominant performance from Max Allegri’s men.

The home side went ahead in the 28th minute thanks to a brilliant Paulo Dybala strike which was rifled past Atalanta keeper Marco Sportiello.

Early in the second half it was Croatian international Mario Mandzukic who latched onto Dybala’s low cross and was able to tap in from close range, sending Juve 2-0 up and ending any chance Edy Reja’s side had of picking up away points.

Juventus

Gianluigi Buffon – 6.5: Was not forced into much with Atalanta unable to even register a shot on target.

Simone Padoin – 6.5: A model of consistency. Never great, never bad. Just always Simone Padoin. And for those that have not seen much of Padoin, that is solid.

Leonardo Bonucci – 7: The Juventus back line was not giving away anything and Bonucci led the line superbly, on a few occasions even digging into his back of tricks dribbling past the opposition.

Giorgio Chiellini – 7: The veteran defender’s physicality proved too difficult for the Atalanta attack, winning almost every battle.

Patrice Evra – 7: Good game from Evra. Another in the Juventus defence who did not let anything past him. Got forward on the right occasions and provided great width, finding himself in many dangerous attacking positions.

Sami Khedira – 7.5: Probably Juve’s second-best on the pitch behind an outstanding Dybala. Has been exceptional for Juve since debuting, providing much needed experience in a struggling midfield.

Claudio Marchisio – 7: Juve have missed Il Principino this season and it is no surprise they ended with a dominant 66% of possession.

Paul Pogba – 6.5 : One of his better games, even though he missed a penalty.

Roberto Pereyra – 6: Not much to report. Went down injured early in the first half.

Paulo Dybala – 9.5: Dybala played like he could have beaten Atalanta on his own. Scored a goal, earned a penalty, created an assist and a host of chances, including a well taken free kick which went narrowly wide.

Mario Mandzukic – 7.5: Easily his best game for Juve. Worked hard and found himself in good positions, scoring his first Serie A goal after taking advantage of Paulo Dybala’s lovely low cross into the box.

Substitutes

Alvaro Morata – 6: Replaced Mandzukic with a quarter of an hour remaining.

Stefano Sturaro – N/A: Came on to chew up time.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6.5: Came on earlier than he may have expected following Pereyra’s injury.
