Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou hasn’t ruled out the chances of Jamie Maclaren receiving a national team call up.

The 22-year-old is having a super season with Brisbane Roar, scoring 14 goals so far over season 2015-16.

Postecoglou conceded if first time call-up Apo Giannou was not available, Maclaren would have been in good contention.

Giannou had issues with his FIFA nationality, but has been all sorted.

“He was very close, Jamie’s gone very well. We’ve been tracking him quite a while, if Apo wasn’t available for this one, we probably would have brought him in for an opportunity,” Postecoglou said.

“There’s no doubt if Jamie continues his form, he’ll get an opportunity at the right time. We have a big year ahead and if he continues the form he’s in now he’ll get an opportunity.

“At the same time we’ve got a couple of games to win, with Apo and Timmy there I’m comfortable with those central striker additions, we’ve got two guys who can deliver in these two games.”

The Socceroos will take on Tajikstan at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday the 24th of March.
