Bernd Leno – 6.5: The shot-stopper did not have much to do at all, however, his distribution was great and he stopped the home side’s second best chance of the match.
Giulio Donati – 6: Defended well and unleashed a tremendous first-time volley against the post.
Jonathan Glao Tah – 6: The 19-year-old played well alongside his centre-back partner, also coming close to scoring.
Kyriakos Papadopoulos – 7: The Greek youngster was Leverkusen’s best defender, making many interceptions and clearances.
Sebastian Boenisch – 5.5: was not involved with the attack much, but nonetheless he helped his side keep a clean sheet.
Christoph Kramer – 7: Kramer performed solidly in the holding-midfielder role along side Lars Bender. The German international broke down the play and was a huge part in the opening goal.
Lars Bender – 7: A sensational outing, cementing a strong partnership with Kramer and he even assisted the first goal.
Karim Bellarabi – 5: Far from his best performance, was good early when he earned his side a couple of free-kicks, but he failed to make much of an impact on the match.
Julian Brandt – 7: The young talent doubled his sides lead with a delicious free-kick, also making fantastic runs throughout the duration of the match.
Admir Mehmedi-7.5: The new signing scored the vital opener on the half-hour mark. The Swiss forward was Leverkusen’s best.
Stefan Kiessling-4: The veteran had a rather poor match due to his lack of contribution.
Substitutes
Kevin Kampl – 7: Came on to the field in the 59th minute in place of Bellarabi. Six minutes later, the Slovenian sealed the victory by scoring the third goal. The 24-year-old’s passing was also near-faultless.
Hakan Calhanoglu – 4: Replaced Julian Brandt in the 72nd minute.
Javier Hernandez – 4.5: Looked lively but did not see enough of the ball.
