EPL Transfer Talk – 10 August – John Stones officially joins Manchester City

Manchester City have confirmed the signing of defender John Stones from Everton after weeks of speculation. The announcement was made just a few hours after UEFA revealed the English international had been included in the Sky Blues squad for their upcoming Champions League qualifier.

Arsenal have been linked to a number of strikers this summer, but they are very much struggling to attract world-class talents to London. According to ESPN the Gunners are set to bid £30 million for Manchester City’s Wilfried Bony, who has reportedly been told that he will need to look for another club.

Leicester City are on the lookout for yet another goal scoring option this summer speculates the Daily Mail. The Foxes are said to have launched a £23 million bid for 19-year-old Brazillian striker Gabriel Barbosa of Santos, who is tipped for a bright future.

Crystal Palace are hoping to secure a double striker swoop before the end of the transfer window according to the Mirror. Alan Pardew is willing to pay £32 million to bring Christian Benteke to Selhurst Park and has contacted Welsh international Hal Robson-Kanu about a possible deal with the Eagles just days out from the start of the new Premier League season.

The Algerian international is entering the final year of his contract and if the Hammers wish to sign the 24-year-old, they are set to face competition from top-flight rivals Everton.

Manchester United are confident that Bastian Schweinsteiger will no longer be at Old Trafford this summer, with the veteran being shopped around to a number of other. The Manchester Evening News also says the Red Devils want Juan Mata to remain under Jose Mourinho though, while sending Adnan Januzaj out on a season-long loan.

In more news of player movement away from the red-half of Manchester, Sky Sports is reporting that Sunderland have struck a double signing for defenders Paddy McNair and Donald Love, who will link up with the Black Cats in a deal worth a combined £6 million.

The United defenders may not be the only new arrivals at the Stadium of Light, with the Chronicle reporting David Moyes is keeping a close eye on Kara Mbodji (Anderlecht) and Shane Duffy (Blackburn), as he looks to add to his defensive reinforcements before the new season.

Hull City may face a battle to keep striker Abel Hernandez beyond this summer with interest coming from Italy. Gazzetta World is speculating that Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Torino are both interested in signing the 26-year-old before the transfer deadline.
