It was another frustrating match for Real Madrid as they wasted numerous chances against a 10-man Malaga outfit at the Santiago Bernebau on Saturday.
Los Blancos attacked from the opening whistle yet were unable to capitalise with Cristiano Ronaldo coming close on several occasions.
Only two of his 14 shots on goal were on target despite the visitors being reduced to 10 men late into the second term.
Credit must also be given to goalkeeper Carlos Kameni whose performance more than saved his side from a defeat.
The result leaves Los Galaticos one point behind Barcelona.
