Real Sociedad
Gerónimo Rulli – 4.5: Was available for his side when required and was unlucky to have been beaten twice as his defenders offered little support.
Alberto De la Bella – 4.5: Received a yellow in the first half that restricted his defensive work.
Iñigo Martínez – 5: Unlucky to be on the losing side. Created numerous chances and controlled Atléti’s forwards, particularly Jackson Martínez.
Diego Reyes – 2: A terrible afternoon for the centre-back. Was one of the players at fault for the opening goal with Griezmann easily running past him. Received two unnecessary yellow cards within only two minutes late on which made things even harder for the home side.
Zaldúa – 5: Somewhat restricted in defence but did a reasonable job to keep Koke and Griezmann honest.
Asier Illarramendi – 4: The former Real Madrid midfielder had a terrible start to the match. At fault for Griezmann’s opener as well as Reyes.
Markel Bergara – 5: Lucky to have stayed on the pitch after a first booking. Replaced in the second half for the more attacking Pardo.
David Zurutuza – 4.5: An unconvincing performance from one of Real Sociedad’s experienced players. Had one notable chance through a volley but did not threaten Oblak.
Sergio Canales – 5: Came close to leveling the score in the first half with a fantastic free kick that narrowly missed. Faded as the game went on and was replaced for the more pacey and direct Bruma.
Carlos Vela – 5.5: Real Sociedad’s most threatening man tried hard to bring his side back into the game on many occasions but was unlucky with his finishing.
Imanol Agirretxe – 4.5: Worked hard but was a quiet afternoon for the striker who was well marshaled by Giménez and Godín.
Substitutions
Bruma – 5: Replaced Canales and threatened the Atléti back line with his pace. Had a shot on goal saved by Oblak but should have done better with the effort.
Jonathas – 2: Came on late in the game but still managed to receive two quick yellow cards.
Rubén Pardo – 4: Just one of the many Real Sociedad players to receive a yellow card. Had no significant impact upon entering the field.
