With the start of the new A-League season just days away, Ange Postecoglou will admittedly be looking out for the next crop of Socceroo talent to come from the local competition.

Aaron Mooy has become arguably Australian football’s biggest star since coming out of the A-League, while names such as Craig Goodwin, Josh Risdon, Alex Gersbach and Jamie Maclaren have all recently seen time in the green and gold.

With the campaign to reach Russia 2018 now heating up, Postecoglou will continue to utilise those who standout on the domestic front and expects that we will see some experienced names begin to seal the show.

“The guys who are playing at some of the bigger clubs, if they play every game for a club like Melbourne Victory they’ll be playing at a level where I’ll be taking notice,” the coach said in an interview with AAP.

“If you look at the history of the A-League, it’s guys who have one or two solid years and all of a sudden really blossom into it.

“We’ve rarely seen guys come out of nowhere and burst onto the scene and go really well.

“It’s guys that have been in the system maybe one or two years and feel really comfortable at that level and take their game to the next step.”

The Socceroos continue their World Cup qualifiers with an away clash against Saudi Arabia on Friday morning.
