Jan Oblak – 7: Another solid display by the Slovenian who made impressive saves when required.
Juanfran – 6: The only defender in the Atléti back line to have not been booked. Dealt well with Zurutuza and Vela but was not as influential in an attacking sense.
José Giménez – 6.5: Performances like this showcase why the youngster is highly admired. Solid defensively and always put his heart into tackles.
Diego Godín – 6: Typical solid display by the experienced centre-back. Prevented strikers Agirretxe and Jonathas from having much opportunity to threaten Oblak.
Filipe Luís – 5: Impressive in his runs forward but at times was at fault in his defensive duties.
Ángel Correa – 5: Given a start after impressing as of late but was played out of position on the wing. Replaced early on in the second half.
Gabi – 6.5: Protected the back four admirably alongside Tiago and kicked off counter attacks.
Tiago – 6.5: Solid in shielding his defence as well as providing chances on the counter. Was close to scoring late on in what would have been the vital second goal.
Koke – 7: The star midfielder returned to the side after missing the last few weeks out injured and was unlucky not to see his early header open the scoring for his side. Made up for it by assisting Griezmann.
Jackson Martínez – 4: A night to forget for the former FC Porto man with his miss in the 48th minute summing up the Colombian’s display. Was lucky to have not scored an own goal following a corner. Replaced for the more effective Torres only 15 minutes into the second half.
Antoine Griezmann – 7.5: The in-form striker continued his goalscoring run of form with a superb burst that followed with an exceptional chipped effort just moments into the match.
Substitutes
Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco – 6.5: The Belgian winger continues to impress when given a chance. Replaced Correa on the wing and was on hand to provide the vital second goal following a break to give the away side the three points.
Fernando Torres – 6: Brought on for the ineffective Martínez. Starved of service due to Real Sociedad’s momentum but provided the assist to seal the three points.
Saúl Ñíguez – N/A: Replaced Griezmann late in the 87th minute to maintain Atléti’s lead.
