Manchester City

Joe Hart – 9: Got back between the sticks after being left out for the last two games and put in a solid performance. Apart from making some vital saves, he brilliantly stopped a penalty and was the man of the match for City.

Bacary Sagna – 6: Not too bad a performance from the Frenchman. He continues to keep Pablo Zabaleta out of the side.

Nicolas Otamendi – 6: A mixed performance from the Argentine who initially gave away the penalty after a lazy challenge on Raffael. Made it up by scoring the all-important equaliser.

Martin Demichelis – 5: The weakest link among the back four and struggled against a superb Raffael. Will surely be replaced when Kompany and Mangala are match fit.

Aleksandar Kolarov – 6: His positioning could be blamed for Monchengladbach’s goal but was otherwise quite steady in defence and attack.

Yaya Toure – 5: Age seems to be catching up with the midfield powerhouse. Returned from injury to start but a poor performance saw the Ivorian replaced at half time.

Fernandinho – 6.5: Continued his strong start to the season with another consistent performance in the centre of the City midfield.

Kevin De Bruyne 6: The Belgian has had better games in his career and this was not one of them. Made quite a lot of errors and did not offer much in attack.

Raheem Sterling – 7: Played in Sergio Aguero early on with a fantastic pass but the Argentine could not convert. Was lively throughout the game.

David Silva – 7: Returned from injury and it looked like he was never gone. The Spaniard continues to be one of the best attacking midfielders in the game. Was replaced after the hour mark.

Sergio Aguero – 7: Should have scored early on from a Sterling cross and his recent dip in form was quite evident in the first half. But he won and converted a penalty in the dying minutes and could have scored another in stoppage time but for the heroics of Sommer.

Jesus Navas – 6: While he struggles with his goalscoring, he makes it up with his pace and hard work down the right-wing.

Pablo Zabaleta – N/A: Sent on late to replace Sterling.
