Outgoing Newcastle Jets winger Andrew Hoole has capped off his career at the club by being named its Player of the Year at yesterday’s awards night.

The 21-year-old made 24 appearances this season and scored his first goal for the club last week against Sydney FC. He will depart his hometown club for the Sky Blues next season after making 50 appearances for Newcastle.

The form of the attacker was a bright spark in a rather disappointing season for the club which saw them receive the dreaded wooden spoon after winning just three games out of 27.

The Newcastle junior also won the Ray Baartz Medal on behalf of the Men of Football.

His form was rewarded with a spot in Aurelio Vidmar’s Olyroos team which opened its 2016 Olympic qualification campaign in Taiwan last month, where he scored a hat-trick against Myanmar.

Youngster Nick Cowburn and Emily van Egmond won Player of the Year for the Youth League and W-League respectively while Taylor Regan was named Player of the Year by the club’s members.
