Jose Mourinho is believed to have made an unsuccessful attempt to try and bring Barcelona youngster Abel Ruiz to Old Trafford.
Reports from Express indicate an undisclosed offer was submitted for the 16-year-old, who’s name has shown up on the radar of many top clubs across Europe.
Tipped to become a future superstar of world football after shining during his development at the fabled La Masia academy, Ruiz was also approached by Arsenal over a potential transfer back in January, while fellow Premier League sides Manchester City and Chelsea have shown interest in his services.
Despite this vast array of options though, the striker rejected a possible move in order to sign his first three-year professional contract from the Blaugrana in June, coming off a key role to Spain’s second place finish in the under-17 European Championships.
The news will hardly come as a dent to the hopes of Manchester United fans though, after the ‘Speical One’ was able to sign superstar striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and midfielder Paul Pogba for a world record fee.
