Euro 2016 continues to deliver observers not only emotionally charged knockout encounters, but also some dream individual match-ups on the pitch.

In the build up to the Germany vs France semi-final blockbuster on Friday morning, the gang at oulala.com have  taken a look at key men Mesut Özil and Dimitri Payet, to see how they have compared at Euro 2016. Despite a lack of experience when stacked up against the Die Mannschaft star, it is Payet who dominates in six of the eight key areas analysed.

Both have been vital in every game so far of their respective countries campaigns, yet Germany’s difficulties at the attacking end have seen Ozil record just one goal in the game against Italy and more importantly for his standards – only one assist. Meanwhile, tournament superstar Payet has made an exciting focal point for Les Bleus, finding the net three times himself and also providing two assists.

The West Ham ace has also created more chances for teammates to score, has taken more individual shots and is terrorising defenders with a 79% take-on success rate. Ozil, on the other hand, has made more successful passes with over 100 minutes more of game time under his belt.

Who will be the man to lead their team onto European football’s biggest stage?
