Sky sources suggest Fulham are in talks to sign free agent Emmanuel Adebayor.

The 32-year-old striker has been out of contract since departing Crystal Palace at the end of June.

Adebayor, who has previously turned out for the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, as well as Real Madrid would be a high profile signing for the Cottagers, who now ply their trade in the second-tier English Championship.

The Togo international’s notoriously high wages may prove a stumbling block, but Pakistani-American owner Shahid Khan could look to splash the cash after a number of lean seasons at Craven Cottage on and off the pitch.

The 2010 Europa League finalists are in desperate need of a goalscorer of Adebayor’s calibre, following the July transfer of last season’s top scorer Moussa Dembele to Scottish champions Celtic.
