Manchester City put on a show for their supporters at home, running away 4-0 winners over Crystal Palace.

Fabian Delph got the scoring underway for City when he took a long shot from outside the box that should have been a regulation save for Wayne Hennessey but his poor form from last week carried over and he was beaten on his near post.

Sergio Aguero had his first just before half-time after again taking a long-range shot that took a deflection off Scott Dann that gave Hennessey no chance to correct himself. The Argentine had his second after the hour mark after some good interplay between David Silva, Aguero, Yaya Toure and Kevin De Bruyne before De Bruyne played a ball across the box for a tap in for Aguero.

The game was put to bed after Palace were caught with too many men upfield and Aguero broke away before unselfishly playing David Silva to wrap up the 4-0 win.

Palace will need to get things sorted out with their goalkeeping before they face another difficult game against Tottenham at Selhurst Park while City travel to West Ham.

The Aguero Show

Sergio Aguero was outstanding in the game not only scoring two goals but also supplied the assist for the final goal. After a disappointing game at home last time out City needed some inspiration and Aguero really was the provider in this game. His combination with Silva was a constant feature of the game and lead to many chances that got them into promising position.

He was also a key component in the best play of the game perhaps even the season when Silva put Joel Ward under pressure and take the ball away from him. This set the play in motion with Aguero getting the ball spread it out and played a one-two with Silva before spreading it to Toure who knocked it on to Kevin De Bruyne who found Aguero inside the six-yard box after he made his run from the edge of the box for an easy tap-in.

For City fans, it will be good to see the Argentine forward finding his form after a season where he has battled injury.

Palace on the slide

Since there win against Stoke where they were fighting for the potential place in a European level on points with Tottenham they now find themselves in eighth position and have now failed to score in the last five Premier League games something they had not done since 1998.

The common theme is the injury to Yannick Bolasie who before he got injured late in the game against Stoke was by far the best performer for the Eagles this season. Even though he had not provided much in terms of primary assists and goals it is was the work that he was doing going up the field was the main impact he was having. Without him, they have become too predictable and have relied too much on Wilfried Zaha to try and perform that role and he just drops his head too early if things are not going his way.

Another issue for Palace has been the performance Hennessey in goal. Last week his blunder cost his team at least a point against Aston Villa let in another soft goal that started the City scoring for the game when he was beaten on his near post by a Delph long shot which now leaves Pardew with a decision to make before next week with either Alex McCarthy who was dropped after an error against City early in the season or Julian Speroni available to take Hennessey’s place.
