Victory undisputed favourites to reclaim A-League title

With Melbourne delivering an overall auspicious performance against a top four side in United, fans of the club will be excited about their credentials of recording successive A-League championships when the season begins. At full strength, the Victory seem unstoppable and it would take a bold man to bet against their chances of being the first team to achieve that feat since the Brisbane Roar’s period of supremacy.

The interchanging of passing was sublime, particularly in transition from defence to attack and this exposed the many flaws of Adelaide, uncovered by a fluid midfield trio containing Finkler, Oliver Bozanic and captain Carl Valeri. Despite the front three lacking polish and ruthlessness inside the 18-yard box, failing to kill off the game when the opportunity was presented, it is obviously not a major concern given the season is in its infancy.
