Swansea back on track

The Swans finally broke their six-game winless streak with Saturday’s 2-1 away victory over Aston Villa, giving fans reason to cheer for the first time in over a month. Andre Ayew struck the winner three minutes from time as Garry Monk’s side came from behind at Villa Park to earn their first away win of the season. After a goalless first-half, the Villans took the lead when Jordan Ayew headed home, but Gylfi Sigurdsson hauled the visitor’s level with a superb 25-yard free-kick. Swansea finished the game the strongest and grabbed all three points as Kyle Naughton’s low cross was rifled home by Ayew, his fifth goal in ten games.

Sacking of Tim Sherwood inevitable

Although some may feel sorry for Tim Sherwood after he was sacked, frankly speaking, it was always coming. After 10 games, Aston Villa find themselves dead last with just four points on the board and after their opening day victory over Bournemouth, they have simply forgotten how to play football, securing their only other point against a woeful Sunderland team. Despite losing arguably their three best players in Christian Benteke, Fabian Delph and Ron Vlaar, a team as decent as Villa should not be in the relegation zone. The incoming manager faces a hell of a job in trying to revitalize the club’s fortune.
